  11.  AB    We report the case of a 56-year-old woman with reticular erythematous
  12.        mucinosis (REM). During her workup infection with the human
  13.        immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was detected. She developed a cerebral
  14.        toxoplasmosis, salmonella sp. bacteremia and oral ulcerations with the
  15.        presence of type I herpes simplex virus and cytomegalovirus. The
  16.        relation of REM with the deposition of mucin in AIDS patients' bone
  17.        marrow and HIV infection is discussed. To our knowledge, this is the
  18.        first report where REM is associated with HIV disease.
